Well, this IS actually a bit late – by nearly 2 years! But here it is week 17 of 2006 prompts!
A kind of autobiography – my memory is too awful and so is my childhood, for me to be very detailed, so it’s quite ‘minimal’, but once I let myself NOT do the details this was fun to do.

This is my project, a mix of the storybook and my memories- I was inspired by the all the projects and the idea of a butterfly speaks to me.. I had a empty lunchbox on my shelves, I want to do something special with this box and this has to be the special project.
When I work on a minibook or a project I like to make a concept for page one and than duplicate that for the other pages. I made a decision what kind of colors I have to use for this and a few embellishments, ofcourse I needed to use many butterflies..
During the proces of thinking and creating I have noticed that the memories popping up in my mind, I can adjust a new page anytime in this box, maybe it becomes a never ending story..
Thanks for the inspiration Shimelle and the other designers!

I went scrapping today and found the perfect album kit for my book! It’s an 8×8 Maya Road Chipboard album kit that comes with papers, cardstock, letters, chipboard, diecuts, ribbon; it should really help my album come together. Here’s the cover!

As soon as I saw the guest artists previews I fell in love with the idea of using a butterfly as the cover of my mini-book. After asking Alissa a couple of questions I decided not to buy a cover (would take too long!) so I made my own out of board and painted it with black acrylic.
To colour the ‘wings’ I did a quick bit of embossing with silver and purple powder and adhered that to the back of the board. I wanted the outside of the book to have plenty of colour and also for the book to be fastened at both sides. I selected a few different ribbons and fibres, cutted them quite long and stuck those to the back of the wings. As I wanted the ends of the ribbon to be covered I cut some Basic Grey papers to size and put them on the inside of the cover. I joined the 2 covers using Karen Foster scrappers rings.
The inside of the front cover gave me a great opportunity to do an introductory piece of journalling so, using a white gel pen, I did a short intro and a bit of doodling as well as adding the MAMBI Urban Bling embellie – It’s All About ME!
