Finally caught up, having started two weeks into the course. Should be able to go at a more realxed pace now

week 3 entry
It seems that with these entries I’m more focused on just getting out what I want to and not worrying about filling the page. I like that.

I Am - Defined
This is the back side of my I AM page. About 6 months ago I had major spine surgery and many more procedures since. I hurt a lot and often end up having to rest at the most INCONVENIENT (!!) times. This was one of those times and it bummed me out because I was really in the groove on my I AM page. So I took inkpads, muslin and a set of alpha stamps to bed with me and stamped my words. Slow, tedious, but necessary for completion of this page. It didn’t work as a spread so it’s on the back of my main page. The main thing to me is not giving in and expressing yourself regardless. So, this completes my Week 1. Huzzah!

I Am - Week 1
I started working on this page before receiving the emailed instructions/prompts. I joined, reviewed the posts online thus far, then went to it. I tried a few different approaches which I wasn’t happy with. They just weren’t getting the “essence of me”. Then I spied this fabric image in a “working” pile of my stuff. To me it represents all that I’m feeling of late so I decided to focus on the image. I wanted the lushness of fabric around it so it turned into play with my machine which was great fun.

The 5 W's
Earlier I responded to a post about inability to be brief and it’s definitely coming out here!! With the prompt about someone seeing your journal and how to return it I decided to do a page with the 5 W’s. My Inside Cover (posted earlier) spoke to the large picture….this one was a bit more detailed. I felt like it (the journal) wasn’t complete without this info! Yeah, obsessive much????? Thanks.

AJ - Page 1-Begin Here
I joined the class late and had started this page before seeing any prompts. I just liked the quote – it sums me up very well – and decided to run with it. So I finished the page and decided it would be my Page 1 – Begin Here. I then went back and added the other pages around it in response to the prompts. Thanks for looking!

My AJ - Inside Cover
Okay! I’m getting caught up! Here’s the inside cover of my AJ – driven by the question ‘what would something think if they found your journal?’ I was feeling silly, but recognizing people’s need to peek into the unknown.

I am sensing a theme here...
So looking at these I am getting that I like to go my own way! The times in my life that I have turned significant corners have been the times when I have been prepared to swim upstream. On a daily basis it can be a pleasure that my view is just a few degrees of ‘normal’ at times of course, I can feel isolated or misunderstood. Wouldn’t trade it for anything though – what my friend calls the Kellyness of Kelly.

The opposite of resolutions.

Turning a corner.
I am enjoying my fabric journal SO much. In fact, thinking of it now, it is another example of swimming upstream, dancing my own dance. I have a nice spiral bound art pad I could have used, or I could have carried on in my last art journal. I had a spark of an idea to use fabric, then I dismissed it, but as sparks do, it ignited and I had to go with it. I am very excited about finishing another page so I can put together my first signature.
Like so many others here, I am trying to accept my mistakes and build on them to create something new. My textiles/dressmaking/quilting background wants tidy ends and even page sizes. My evolving artist is going to just let it flow, the pages start out the same size, but with heat setting and stitching are changing size slightly. I am just going to make up the odd bits with fabric or ribbon or whatever comes to hand when I make up the signatures.

I am messy and I don't care...week 2
Sat down to do the week 2 prompt, and this is what came out! :)
