Give me flowers....

I fell in love with this paper from scenic, and just had to use it. I still have the journaling and photos to go on, but this page just makes me happy. I love the colors. :)

2nd try at Quick Collage

Actually I have two 2nd tries. This first one is a photo I grabbed out of my stash and 3 basic gray papers. I always think about this Mark Twain quote when I think of San Francisco. This is not very out of the box, but it was quick for me.

For my second collage, I took a magazine and started cutting words that reminded me of me. I grabbed a big chipboard letter and went to town. I finished in 15 minutes. :) I think this is much more my style.

Thanks for your comments.

Working Fast

I don’t like copying things outright, but since Claudine Hellmuth does such terrific work and I was listening to her Quick Collage podcast as I was working, I thought I’d try a layout a la CH:

Little thoughts

Definitely fun. Definitely different. Definitely fast!

#12 - Blossom by blossom the spring begins

I love spring. Fast and easy collage. And I am actually happy to live where today will be 71º and sunny. The flowers are in bloom and I am in the mood for spring!

Woo Hoo!!!

This page was completely inspired by a new stamp that a friend gave me. The sentiment drove it all. I’ve had major medical challenges that I’m trying to deal with and one thing I know for sure is I’m feeling pretty worn out. I feel fairly used up physically, especially for my age. But, it’s all character building and my scars become a part of my story! I’m adjusting, not surrendering. The stamp (Paula Best) is of a dress on a hanger so I tweaked it for my purposes. So here I am – skidding in! Woo Hoo!

{In case you can’t read it, the words inside the dress are “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand…strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO!”}

Fast page!

I forget now which week this was for, but this is my 20 min special! The idea came to me whilst walking to the station this morning… my tree of life using my finger prints!! Was a fun page to do, not quite sure it’s got the significance I was aiming for, but I guess that was the point of a fast off the cuff page!!

Free To Fly

Howdy Everyone and Happy Wednesday! This page is in response to the “do it quick” prompt. Essentially I took elements that were littering my desk and went with it. The butterfly postage paper was a large remnant so I started there. Except for the cutting out of the 4 blue butterflies, girl and tying the ribbon on it took about 10 minutes. I don’t really like working “quickly” for the most part. I feel rushed and unable to fully explore my opportunities. Then I feel like I default to “contrived”. But for these purposes it was fine. I was prepared to do more to it, but it just looked done. So I stepped away from the embellishing!!! Thanks!

Spark - it's good to talk

Well this spark was a good one, it wasn’t at all difficult for me to decide who I’d most like to chat with. I chose my Grandad. He passed away just over 18 months ago and I wish I’d spent more time going beyond the daily chit chat. This was a great page to do, I blubbed a bit whilst doing it, but in a good way! My Grandad certainly was a Grand Man.

Artistic Inspirations

I had a lot of fun with this page and it happened VERY quickly. The background is pieces of paper towels that I had previously blotted my wet brushes on. I’ve been saving the “pretty” ones and thought the journal a great place to use them. Ironed out, strategically torn and adhered….I like it! The flower happened as I thought about the common denominators in art I enjoy. It’s more about emotions provoked than anything. I’ve been saving the quote on the stem for awhile and it perfectly summed up my thoughts on this prompt. All life is inspiration when you see it through an artist’s eye. Thanks for looking!

I think I can

This is my work in progress. I think I can stop tearing my cuticles. It is still an ongoing thing, and I am going to add cutouts of my hands in each of the smaller journalled areas.

Thanks for looking at all this!
