moment of truth

Well…there’s nothing like jumping in again! It’s so good to be back here and receiving Shimelle’s thought-provoking prompts…

My curious and tenacious nature doesn’t allow me to keep my eyes closed about things for long. Once I’ve had my lightbulb moment, I find myself at peace and on a path of progress; the chaos for me is in the not knowing…

Long time no speak!!!

I haven’t posted/downloaded on here for ages, all through the Summer I didn’t get to my Art Journal. I have returned to it and caught up with a few pages – a necessary thing for the soul! I really just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed this experience, how much it has benefited me in so many ways and a huge and heartfelt THANKS! to everyone who has participated – your artwork has been truly inspirational to me – thank you! thank you! thank you!

Take The Bigger Step

melanie komisarski - take the bigger step

There comes a time when you
must stand alone.
You must feel confident enough
within yourself
to follow your own dreams.
You must be willing
to make sacrifices.
You must be capable of
changing and rearranging
your priorities
so that your final goal
can be achieved.
Sometimes familiarity and comfort
need to be challenged.
There are times when you must
take a few extra chances
and create your own realities.
Be strong enough to at least try
to make your life better.
Be confident enough that
you won’t settle for a compromise
just to get by.
Appreciate yourself by allowing yourself
the opportunities to grow, develop,
and find your true sense of purpose
in this life.
Don’t stand in someone else’s shadow
when it’s your sunlight
that should lead the way.

Week 17 English Breakfast Tea

What small discoveries
have made you feel alive?
What do you now embrace
as every day life that you
once never knew existed?
Take a moment to celebrate
it and get it written down.

Well, Ok, here it is.
My small discovery is
English Breakfast Tea.
I start every single
morning with a red
mug-ful mixed with
french vanilla fat-free
creamer and 1 tsp sugar.
It just lifts my spirits
and contents me.
While warming my insides
it warms my heart and
I feel thankful for
another day.

being alive

I have enjoyed this challenge immensely – for my last entry – for this 20 weeks anyway – I chose a “mantra” that are words from my daughter – she was a wise 7 at the time. I have a book mark with these words on it and keep it in whatever book I’m reading – keeps me focused – the simple words of a child.

Watercolours on watercolour paper.

p.s thanks to all who commented along the way – it is very much appreciated.

appreciate sunday spark 4th sept

I originally did this straight onto my paper and it was awful so painted over the background. rote appreciate on seperate card and inked the edges.
Quote’ Mistakes are a part of being human. APPRECIATE your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, someone else will learn from. Al Franklin.

week # 2 - risk

yes definately LOVE taking risks, some choices i’ve made were of high risk, but it all turned out right… follow my “inside advice”...

Always a new day...

A painter I am not, but this is what came out when I thought about the “hope” prompt. The journaling says, “One of the beautiful things about being alive is that no matter how dark the night, a new day always, inevitably, and blessedly comes. Always, always, a new day comes.”

Week 16 Visual Landscape Haiku

Week 16 we were challenged to write our own poem so I wrote a Haiku to go with my birdhouse photo and used some Oriental papers to complete my vision. The red border goes around all sides about 1/2 inch. Traditional Haiku poems use 5*7*5 as the syllable base for each of the three lines so I used that as my guide.

A sloping red roof
Hinged white box with perch and hole
Simple home for birds

Peeling stripes on shed
Red berries arch into view
Whimsical Silence

Empty perch awaits
Songbird finding residence
Christmas in the spring
