Around the bend...

I really enjoyed this weeks prompt. It was fascinating to see not only my own interpretation of “corners” but everyone elses as well.

I did a mind map about the word CORNER and I was surprised at how many ways it could be interpreted. The interpretation that stuck with me was, well, 2 things actually. This one is symbolic of my love of adventure and my unyielding optimistic attitude, and the other has to do with my attitude toward motherhood, which I will enter in my motherhood art journal. The quote that immediately popped into my head was “Not all those who wander are lost” and “Still round the corner there way wait a new road or a secret gate.” If you are a LOTR geek, you may recognize these lines from Tolkien. The complete quote is as follows: “All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”

Perfectly suits my “pollyanna” (as my husband likes to call me) unyielding, unbending, undying optimism that something always awaits around the corner…provided we have the courage to move from where we are now to get there.

The transfer is a photo I took and I did an acrylic paint transfer and I am pleased with the way it turned out!
