Risk... the Leap!
I started with the risk page, using red as it seemed difficult and risky – traced round ‘Lil Davis monograms for the letters btw. I used watercolour pencils on a gesso base, quite a lot of water and shading added. I realised that it just didn’t ring true for me, so I balanced it with the joy of leaping on the facing page. Taken together, they read…
Risk… ... the leap!

For a couple of days I just let it sit. It didn’t feel finished, or true. Then last night, I started adding magazine cutouts that had caught my eye earlier in the week. This is a new technique for me and one I had been wanting to try.

I had found some quotes on risk that illustrated my view of it. I love this wiggly line journalling I have seen in people’s pages. So I had a go at that, doing the quotes in black and my personal journalling in green.

The journalling reads:
Our lives IMPROVE only when we take CHANCES – and the FIRST and most DIFFICULT risk we can take is to be HONEST with ourselves – Walter Anderson Anytime I feel that spark of fear, that sense that “I’m not the sort of person to do THAT” It is my SIGNAL to act! To WIN without RISK is to TRIUMPH without GLORY – Pierre Coneille WHAT IF? I had never come to the UK? Married Keith? Approached Broomwood? Found out about the B.Ed? AND the day CAME when the RISK to remain tight in a BUD was more PAINFUL than the RISK it took to BLOSSOM – Anais Nin One of my biggest risks was to try and find myself again. For this I risked my marriage, my friends, my family, my comfort zone, my values. But MAN, was it WORTH it? Oh YES!
