First Pages Finally Finished

Varying degrees of happiness about my first week’s pages.

I like this … already in just a very short space of time I seem to have conquered my fear/reluctance to use alphabet stickers – the only problem now that I can foresee is that I am likely to develop an alphabet sticker fetish. I used two different sets of foam stamps (New is Printers Blocks, Beginnings is Tumbleweed). The background is lightly chalked – I was reluctant to leave the background white, though I haven’t managed to work out why yet – it just didn’t look finished, I guess.

I’m not particularly happy with the side of this page with the photo on – it looks messy. It’s not a great picture of me (though I suppose that must be what I look like), but it was to hand so I used it as part of my going with the flow theme. I inked the edges of the paper with peacock gold ink, but you’d never know, it’s mainly looking blue, even on the paper. I inked the edges of the photo too, after I’d torn the edges off. I think half the problem is that whilst I actually quite like my own handwriting, I very very rarely use it in my scrapbooking – other than perhaps a date written in very small writing somewhere – perhaps it would be easier to say that I never use handwritten journaling – to me it looks unfinished and messy, I prefer to see it printed. Again to get rid of the white background I’ve lightly chalked the background. The one thing that I DO really like is the colour of the pen – which I ahem … ‘borrowed’ from Sean.

I do like the right hand side, however, though looking at it now I wonder if it needs more. I inked the whole page, and the paper was just a scrap that escaped from my scraps bag the other day when I was covering the journal, and didn’t quite manage to find it’s way back to the bag. The tag was a cream coloured one that I covered with a scrap of K and Co Juliana on the front, and a scrap of mottled pink cardstock on the back. I added ransom alphabet stickers to say ‘Changes’ on the front and wrote on the back some of the changes I hope to find myself making over the coming weeks. A bit of ribbon finished off the tag, and another flower sticker on the pocket. I think I might go and have a look at what rub-ons I have lying around … or wait until tonight and make myself a nice new sheet of rubber stamps with the precise words that I want. Hhhmmm, perhaps I should leave it as is, seemingly unfinished, to represent my own feelings of being unfinished. Hhhmmm.
