Listen

I really struggled to think of something from Monday, and I’m now a day behind, but then this struck me:
Normally I take my ds Jacob up to bed and read him a bedtime story, but on Monday night we were sitting on the couch and he decided to play a game with me – naming animals, countries etc all starting with the same letter. I was amazed at how much he knew – obscure countries I didn’t think he had heard of. We played for quite a while and then J even told me about his day at school in detail – normally when he comes home from school I ask him how his day was or what he had done, and I always get a “fine” or “nothing!”. But because I took the time to actually sit a while with J, and listened to him, instead of my usual rush and “twenty questions”, I learned more about his day!
I did a bit of hidden journalling behind the photo explaining this. I’ve done a straight copy from one of Shimelle’s pages this time as I am a bit behind!
I added “stay open” and “listen” from the blue stickers – I was unsure where to put them – nowhere seemed to work, but I’ve stuck them on anyway!
This page is to hopefully remind me to “stay open” and always make time to listen to my children – I know it sounds simple and we all know we should be doing it, but sometimes we need reminding.
TFL!
