I'm not perfect
It’s no secret there are many of us who are struggling with being creative. We belittle ourselves, criticize our own efforts, get lost in the analysis, and forget to have fun and just do what feels right.
I did this page as a slap in the face to my inner critic. I am tired of trying to live up to my own standards. I decided as soon as I signed up for this class that I want to have fun creating in my journal. I want to write just for fun.
I am currently reading The Forgetting Room by Nick Bantock. (If you haven’t read it, it’s a good, easy read). As I was putting this page together, I thought of the main character. He started out with a drawing of a bridge and kept adding to it “like archaeology in reverse – onionlike skins plumping selves out, one by one.” If I didn’t like something, I would add more (and more).
Anyway, this is what I ended up with. It’s not perfect!
The second photo is a hidden element on the page.
