Accentuate the Positive

Since week 2 this song has been rattling around in my head – that’s a long time! And whilst doing that assignment I had in mind how I might create an entry with the lyrics… as per usual it differs a fair amount from what I had in mind! lol

However, in the eerie way things turn out, this song was actually ON the radio while I was mid-way through it – so fate or what?

Anyhoo – lots of rub-ons including using up some Letraset I inherited from my Grandpa (graphic artist) that are dated around 1972 – but there was no way I was chucking them! The Lady is a Photoshop brush from VBrush that I printed and painted with watercolour pencils. She’s supposed to be coming out of a lotus flower, QK leaf tag back in use… not much else to tell for this one…

Will see if I can squeeze in another page today!

Positivity entry

Being a glass half empty kind of girl made this one an interesting challenge to say the least. I tried something different and worked with very pretty colours. If you haven’t discovered the art potential of the Tesco flower bouquet leaflets, I recommend them. I used a page from one as a basis, sanded it, painted it with gesso, stamped some journalling, sdid some sewing on it, added a bit of silk fabric and painted a layer of alchemy paint on it all too. The rest of the journalling is on the reverse

week 4 entry

Just now getting around to it; Where did my week go?!

Galileo was Right. (positivity prompt)

My entry for Week 4… journaling reads…

When I think of positivity, I always picture a big, bright sun against a brilliant blue sky. I keep the “O Brother, Where Art Thou” soundtrack in my car, and when the kids start bickering or complaining, I blast the song, “Keep on the Sunny Side of Life.” Usually they beg me to turn it off, but they do stop the negativity and even smile.
In the 1600’s, An Italian thinker named Galileo was put on trial and jailed for writing a book in which he declared that the Copernican theory of heliocentricity was truth. This idea of the Earth revolving around the sun, rather than everything revolving around the Earth, was considered heresy.
But guess what – Galileo was right. Everything revolves around the bold, bright, sun. Without the sun’s positive energy, life as we know it on Earth would not exist. It is the same concept we humans should apply to our individual lives. Life is bolder, brighter, and more brilliant when it is given a steady flow of positive energy. I believe Galileo would agree.

Week one

Hi everyone, I’ve just joined the class, so I’m a lot behind !
First I’m Celine, I’m 30 and living in France.

For this first entry I tried to describe myself briefly: my two nationalities : french/spanish, my first name : Celine in France, Celina in Spain (not so much difference :) but for me there is), how I look : small, dark hair, brown eyes, always dressed casually, how I am really : pessimistic, afraid, generous, thankful.
I put a picture of me on this page and cover it almost entirely with paint. I must say that I hate to see me on pictures :)
Thanks for looking.
Celine

Week Four: The Power of Positivity

When I thought about this week’s prompt the first thing that came to mind was magic. I see magic – the cast-a-spell, make-a-wish kind of magic, not the rabbit-yanked-out-of-the-hat kind—as the art journaling version of prayer. Instead of engaging solely in conversation, when you cast a spell you also employ visual aids – candles, incense, sound and other representations of your aim … a little something to engage all of the senses. And magic is only effective if you envision having already achieved what you’re seeking as you work your spell, and fully believe all is well after you’re done – if you mope around and wonder if it worked, guess what? It won’t. So, to me, magic is a primo example of the power of positive thinking—it all boils down to: I have to change my attitude before I can make a change my life.

I didn’t want to do a woo-woo witchy page so I decided to spin off of two of my favorite quotes; Arthur C. Clarke’s “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” and Terry Prachett’s counter quote “Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.” I picked a magician image because I wanted to play off the idea that sometimes a little illusion is necessary to make a change – sometimes we need to convince ourselves and others that we can pull the rabbit out of the hat before we are actually capable of producing said bunny. The magician image is from a vintage advertisement which I altered (for one thing, the guy in the original doesn’t have a festive bow tie).

Happy Year of the Fire Dog, everyone! (As of this Sunday, EST)

I smile but...

...do they really know me???

I had a tough time with this one. I thought of this for days. In my job I have to smile, be friendly, courteous, even though sometimes the situation is maddening. I meet hundreds of people each day and as they pass by…do they even think to know who I am. Underneath all the formality, I am full of life, colorful and each day is different, I am on the dark side and quietly wandering. I wear a different hat each day.

week 4 its all about attitude

Sorry for the poor pic.
My ebtry for week 4
“attitude is choice – be positive and live the results”

Change or not to Change

I also struggled with this one. What doesn’t have the possibility of change. I can not predict the future. I have no power to say that things won’t change, I don’t know I can guess. So I list these things I don’t think will change. And end my page with above all this could all change….

Hi Week 1,2 + 3

Hi to you all,
I am really enjoying seeing everyones journals as they grow and after a few technical difficulties being the least computer able person in the world I decided rather than struggle on trying to post pictures on here I have opened a seperate blog to post them at

www.paperpanic.blogspot.com
I know its a bit of a pain for people but I decided I was supposed to be enoying this experience and my technical failings were getting in the way. Just briefly so far I am most pleased with week three entry, I feel that it looks a little more me if that makes sense.
