Home Page: written down

When my daughter started college this year, I started sending her a ‘Thought for the Day’. Along with the thoughts, I try to include a picture. I fell in love with this picture when I found it and it makes me smile every time I see it. This is was a simple project for me, but then the message is very simple as well!

week 4

Turning Corners

I’m a little behind, but doing what I can. Took advice from one of the group to cut up some of my ‘creations’ from a few weeks ago and used them to make greeting cards – slightly arty ones mind you, but they will also serve to help me achieve my 101 things in 1001 days – making cards in advance for birthdays and weddings.

I thought about turning corners in the ‘life’ type of way and made the following notes:

Art Corners: Seeing as we’re on the subject…. Possibly began with painting a sunset on the wall of my bedroom, age 16; now the study. Thank you Mam for allowing me to be a little creative. Later, at 20? T bought me my first set of acrylics for Christmas – this really turned the corner and I’ve painted, or more importantly, enjoyed painting, ever since – just for me.

Somewhere, we turned the corner at work….my own business – two years of playing solitaire and doing bits and pieces of work. Then we turned the corner and five years later we emply 8 staff. Can’t pinpoint when, or where …. or how ….

Having E or maybe getting pregnant turned the corner on our relationship. It confirmed the inevitable, as T said, reassuringly. Motherhood is good – you couldn’t ask for a more pleasant, happy, easygoing baby & toddler. Being a wife is also good. Being a family is best of all.

week 4 proActive.

thinking about being positive. about being more active. more about doing. more about not just saying i am going to do and never do. but stopping that. instead going to try to be more proactive. really get in there, get things done. be happier, be nicer to strangers. serve others. thinking about dont say, just do. its an attitude. its a life style. its something i am striving for. something i want to achieve. be proactive.

Week two

This one was a little bit hard for me.

The texte on the page : Never say never. It’s my motto but I can think about one thing that will never change and that’s my handwriting. It’s not a beautiful handwriting and it’s hard to read but it’s mine and I like the little illegible signs this hand can create.
So …
Never say never but I hope my handwriting will never change.

Thanks.

Week 3 - intersections, corners, choices, decisions

This week I was reminded of Eschers stairs which were inspired by the artist Reutersvard. Both pictures are from Reutersvard, a master of illusion. If you look carefully, you can see the inconsistency, but if you just glance, it appears that you could go on and on in a ‘circle’. This is like the choices that we make—we can go in circles or pay attention and learn to move forward.

Barometer of My Classroom

I hope this page doesn’t seem to full of myself, but I really believe that I am the barometer of my classroom. If I am happy, the kids are happy. If I am sad, they become sad. It is a very scary thought, but I have learned this in my last decade of teaching. I teach special education English at the 9th & 10th grade level. I am usually in a great mood, so most of my students are in good moods. ;)Thanks!

Some things never change

Ok Fingers crossed that this image is bigger than the last ones !!!
Still lagging behind but trying hard to catch up. Some things never change ??? Well, did a quick mock up of this one in my old Art journal, there was me trying to think of things that would never change in my life – I had a look at some quotes on change which got me thinking a little bit further beyond my initial thoughts, came to realise that there was very little that would NEVER change ! So with the help of a lot of quotes, cos I’m finding it really hard to get my own thoughts down – I came up with this double page.

YAY it’s worked !!! Some decent size images at last !

Pat's Happy Face

happy
As a young teen I was in LOVE with the Happy Face. I had t-shirts with them & drew them on everything. There is a photo somewhere with me in my favorite happy face t-shirt, but didn’t find it yet.

Big yellow smiles, Happy Faces all around!

Week 4

OMG, this has to be my quickest journal entry so far! lol Hm, still an hour and something mind!

Very simple, I have always loved bright colours, but when it comes to my scrapbook LOs my photos have never really been able to withstand the bright treatment. Hasn’t stopped me buying them though! So I let loose with KI Summer and lovely DCWV buttery cardstock. Finally had opportunity for proper journaling, yes very short, but just says

“Wish I could smile:
They say you need to stretch fewer facial muscles to smile than to be a grump. So why is it then that when I am smiley and have a smile plastered on my face, in reality I look totally neutral, verging on grumpy?! What’s up with that?
So if I look neutral, really inside I am smiling, I am bursting with joy, light and happiness. Don’t let this neutral exterior fool you!”

Oh and the song of my childhood – remember Bobby Ferrin being in the charts all one summer… I so got sick of that song then, but now… it makes me smile! ;o)

Sharing an OnLine Smile

Hello everyone,

Just an e-smile from me to you. I appreciate the kind, sharing community and your appreciation for personal art of all forms. Thank you for kind and encouraging words shared—both for my art personally and for all contributors. The feedback has been very helpful and meaningful to me. Again, thank you so much!

My ISP has had me offline for about a week so I’m digging out now and will post soon. I did just get caught up on all that I missed. What an exceptionally talented group! Kudos to you!

smiling and thanks,
