Remnants

Hi Everyone! Wishing you well!

I’ve got several pages done and am just getting to scanning/uploading. Similiar to others, I find myself wandering off on side topics and wanting to explore the pages. So here’s one of them.

When working on anything artful I make a lot of sub-pieces that I may end up not using at that time. Certainly I can’t throw it away (!!) so I end up with cool little snippets all over the place. Remnants of images, painted paper, stamped stuff, words, punches, etc. etc. that were created for something else but not yet used. One day I was rather disgusted with the growing pile so I put it into a page – if for no other reason to put it somewhere. Barely made a dent, but it’s a start!!! Can anyone else relate?!!

Week 4

A page about my mother’s second wedding. The text on the page :
My mother got married for the second time in september 2005.
A picture like this makes me think that everybody can have a second chance.
And that makes me smile.

Week three

Well, that’s my page about corners. I don’t really like corners in my life, because it means taking big decisions, but it’s sometimes necessary.

week 4 - smiles

Oh my G – I can’t believe we got the prompt for week 8 today and I’m only just uploading week 4… haven’t done any since these pages so am going to try and find some me time and get caught up!

This page evolved from a great moment of serendipity. The hole I’d punched in the page for the previous entry on corners just happened to highlight my smile from my drawing of me, so the page just evolved from there.

The photo is of my gorgeous niece and nephew who never fail to pose for a camera and always make me smile!. I’ve included a list of things that make me smile and just generally played around and had fun… I wish I didn’t need 8 hours of sleep a night then I could easily catch up!!

Pat's Overheard

Little did I know that when I overheard 2 guys chatting about commercials on the radio, I’d find this photo. I went to look for ‘retro’ radios and the search brought up this funky round radio – that I’d had as a kid! Wow… I didn’t know I’d moved into retro status

liz's search

i have been getting a bit behind with the assignments. i keep thinking of different things i want to journal about. so i do those. today, i decided to do the one about search. about the ongoing search, for i think the unknown really. its funny how we all seem to always want stuff. or things. or to go places. or to find that one person who we connect with more than anyone else in this world. it really is an ongoing search.

Overheard

Overheard at the scrapbook store:
“This is the worst layout I’ve ever done in my whole life!” and “I should just throw the whole thing away.” And more of the same… But what I really heard is, “Am I okay?”

I have the “overheard” comments pouring from the faucet, and pooling down below. Then a few images from old mags that seemed to fit that common theme of self-doubt. Added a couple of stamps, including a corset and a “falling fairy.”

Thanks for looking-

Can't Stand the Heat Prompt.

Wow, I have fallen behind! I sketched a part of my kitchen and wrote about our Sunday Spaghetti Night tradition, which arose not so much from my love of spaghetti, but rather a desire to have one day of the week where dinner took no thought or time to prepare, and no complaining by picky kids! It has turned into a special family night that we all look forward to.
It is a rough sketch that I filled in with watercolors.

She made out like a bandit!

The converstion I overheard took place the day after Valentines Day. Two young, single women were discussing all the gifts their other friend had received from her boyfriend. One of them enviously commented, “She made out like a bandit!” Of course, they were making plans to visit her to check out all her new “loot”.

Kitchen Plan

I also forgot to say that this was an attempt at oblique? drawing (45 degree angles). I don’t know how successful it was, but it was something I did in school as part of a technical drawing subject. That was kinda fun too.
