Home Page: written down

Anyone out there?

Seems awfully quiet around here…
Here’s my latest entry. What’s outside my comfort zone? Well, for one, do you see ALL that white space on the left that I had to physically restrain myself from filling??? I think I did pretty well. :)

Hope everyone’s still creating away out there in cyberland…

Still Here

This page happened during an evening playing with doodles and handwriting. Given the lack of constants in my life I struggled with the literal interpretation of the prompt. Instead I wrote about resilience and that my perseverance is all my own. I had a different (doodled) title, but it ended up not fitting on the page when I went to put it in my book. It was “Here I am” and in retrospect all I can think of with that is the classic opening of a Lyle Lovett song. So I guess this title was meant to be huH?!!

the Perfect Weekend

Yes, I’m doing them in order and I did this one quickly last weekend. There is journaling under the red glaze which then focused me to start the page. After writing my thoughts I had a few insights which I wrote about on a tag inserted into the manilla coin envy. The biggest thing – it’s about state of mind and has very little to do with location/events. Fun. It was fast, messy and easy. Sometimes that’s best right?

:art inspires me - week nine!

Ooops! I got a little behind, what with illness and half term, but here I am – back again! Here’s my week nine challenge – my influences!
It’s great to look back on the progression of my art influences and also to see how it fits together. I think it’s safe to say I like colour – a lot!

I notice I have subconsciensly done another page with houses in (my overheard chatter had houses in). I am currently house hunting, so I guess it’s well and truly on my mind. :)
My artists are Klee, Kandinsky, Mark Ryden, Escher, Hundertwasser and Patrick Woodruffe.
Art inspires me

Week 9 - inspiration

Last year I took a painting course. We did a lot of still lifes. We set objects and cloths and at several stations in the room. I have always been inspired by Cezanne and this is one of the interpretations of our still lifes that he inspired me to create. If anyone else likes Cezanne and is going to be in the Washington DC area, his work is being exhibited at the National Gallery of Art through May 7th. Enjoy!

Quick collage - star-crossed lovers

I have been listening to Claudine’s podcasts. So before listening this week or looking at her or others’ work, I went with the word hurt.

First thought was hurt feelings, then physical hurt – and so I decided to combine them both. Went quickly through my folder of images and found this lovely couple – was going to do a comment on her bending over backward and getting hurt – LOL – but then found psycho warrior man – perfect!

My time limit was 45 minutes – fast for me. LOL.

This was super easy to do with no time to listen to my inner critic!

Come in and play with me

As a writer, so many of my influences are from the written word. And there are plenty of others, too—artists, celebrities, magazines, knitting designers, and more…

"Searching" prompt...

Here’s my page for the “searching” prompt. I did the central image with an inkjet image transfer (using gel medium).

I enjoyed putting these pages together more than I thought I would when i first got the prompt! the blank space is waiting for a recipe from my nan. The text talks about the social space that is my kitchen/ diner and some of the weird meals my mum used to make with left over sunday roast!

Time

Time is one thing I always seem to be searching for… I never seem to have enough!
