Here is my journal cover. Thanks for looking.

My first page

I finally got my courage up That’s two firsts for me as I normally never decorate the first page in my journals or altered books. I always want the first page to be perfect but can never decide on what to do so it is always blank.
That’s also why the first page is relatively empty I see it as the starting page.

I did some hidden journalling under the picture about a situation that ties in nicely with the new beginnings theme but didn’t really fit into an art journal, still it’s relevant for me at this moment of time.

Fiona's first page

This is my first page of my journal. I have a thing about hands at present so I decided that it would represent the rest of me, atleast for now.

The colours are me – browns and earthy tones (what do you expect from a Capricorn?). I used my own rather unartistic handwriting, doodling about some of the themes for my life at present. This is my first real attempt to be arty and messy when writing a journal. More used to keeping written ones, but I want to stretch myself and see where it goes -by the scenic route preferably!

Claudia, you’ll recognise the hand!

Just...

wanted to say hi and thanks for some wonderful inspiration. There is so much to read here already. I have changed my mind about the size of my journal a couple of times, but then I am always changing my mind. Going to go with a 6×6 as it is a size that I feel comfortable with.

Cover!!

Here is the cover for my journal. I used acrylic paint and wax for the background, which was alot of fun since I haven’t painted in years… It is unfinished, but I will wait for further inspiration, wait for things to find there way to me!! Working on the inside page now, so stay tuned!

self portrait :: a journal

Well, this is my title page for my journal. Hmmmmm. A bit boxed in, I’d say. That gloppy strip at the bottom of the word “journal” is a bit of glitter. Still, I am loving the Heidi Grace patterned paper. That girl is all about playing!

Could I have a hand, please?

I’m looking for a black pen that will write on anything.....or, at least, pretty close to anything. I hear Sharpies getting mentions here and there, where am I going to pick up one of those? Bearing in mind I’m a Brit so interweb .com’s are pricey for postage! And I live in the boonies in deepest darkest Caledonia so no nice big stationary shops about. Grrrr…....I love the sticks, really, but shopping’s a mare. All help greatfully and grinningly received!! Thank yooooo!

My first page

Okay, here is my first page. I think I restarted this entry like four times. I tend to overanalyze everything I do instead of just going for it. Need to trust myself more. Anyway, I decided to focus on my reasons for keeping this journal. I am a digital scrapper so I am accustomed to doing everything on the computer, so I have decided to start out doing my entries on the computer for this challenge. Thanks so much for taking a look. I have really been enjoying looking at everyone’s entries. They are all so awesome and very inspiring.

Finally got my journal

Well I actually bought 3 journals!! 2 A5’s (which I think I’ll use another time) & a spiral bound A4 – I think I’m going to find it easier working with a larger journal but at least I can change my mind. Now all I’ve got to do is sort out covering it & find the courage to begin.

Cover -- Finally!

well, here it is. I was determined to try LOTS of new things in this art journal, but why, oh WHY did I pick stuff that needs to DRY??

Basic heavyweight watercolor paper book. I ripped off the flimsy cover and used page 1 as the cover. Painted it dsark green, then crackle glaze, then MM celery paint. Lovely, but that took a day.

The image is from one of Nick Bantok’s books (The Museum at Purgatory), scaned then printed on Lazertran paper—fiddly to slide something so whispy and not-square off the transfer paper and adhere it. Gotta love a rubber brayer :-)

It’s called Artistic Expression and experimentation. Title cut from Basic Grey (sloop script) and MM foam stamps. A few odd stamps scattered about (only ones I’ve never used before!).

Time To Play is stamped in green. I have an image from Teesha Moore’s site as my avator on some groups and the caption is Let’s Play (because, I think, one of her ‘zines is called PLAY) and it seemed so appropriate on many levels—the journal is for PLAY, not work, finding TIME to do it will be hard, and when I open it it’s TIME to PLAY!

God only knows if I’ll manage to get this posted. I’m no Luddite, but I tend to get in a groove and adding new technology takes some time sometimes.
