Risks...

Hey, it’s red!!! That’s a pretty big risk in itself for me!!! And about as risky as I go these days. I may do a companion page to this…..I’ll see what the Muse comes up with later. Tag is off Wee Lamb’s pinafore. Challenged myself not to use my little alpha stamps cuz they’re on all three other pages! Funnily enough, I’m a massive patterned paper user in my scrapbooking and there’s not one single scrap on any journal pages so far. I think I’m trying to totally get away from the SB feel…....betcha by the end of the 20 weeks I’ve got paper all over the place!!!

Watercolour (yay!) and acrylic background. Does anyone know why my thumbnail images are coming up as just squares of the corners and not whole little rectangles? Bearing in mind I’m a PC doofus of the highest order!!

Ooops....

It didn’t work, hopefully my pages will be attached this time…..

Week One: looking 4 balance

My first pages.....

....you may remember my post last week when I was about at the end of my tether with this. I was surprised at how difficult I found it, I was finding the writing felt false and contrived and the art – well – I justy couldn’t get my head round that at all. Anything I did looked like my 6yr old had done it and I couldn’t see the “point” of it at all.

I put the journal to one side and despite wonderful comments from you all I had more or less made my mind up not to bother, or at the very least to just do the writing and forget about the art.

I have had such fantastic encouragement/counselling from two of my good friends and I was so touched by how much they care that I promised to have another try – and this “Spring” page is the result….....and I actually kind of like it!!

The other page you see is the only one I did last week without ripping it up, and although I don’t like it at all, I have decided to keep it.

I’m hoping that now I have made a start and actually got a page i don’t detest I will gradually find it easier as the weeks go on. I won’t give up yet anyway!!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week when I was down, and Sally R – I couldn’t have done it without you!!

Art Journal Cover

I’ve finally found the time to do some posting. Thanks to my friend Karyn for buying this little goodie for me! (Thanks Karyn) Have been with you all since the start, and have been thoroughly reading each and every post with interest. I can’t believe all the great work I’ve seen. Its Fab! Anyway, here is the start of my journal. This photo should show my cover.

Now if that worked, you’ll see my cover. Since we’re in ‘conservation mode’ in this household at the moment, I’ve reused a journal I made in a HOTP class a couple of years ago. I really liked the papers on it, but the rest was…. errrrr BAD! So I’ve gone all heritagey with it, as is my usual. I have to admit, I’ve really struggled though. I’ve not felt very creative lately, and although I wanted to be very artsy and ‘go with the flow’ on this, its turned out very regimented. But I guess thats just me, and how I am, so hence…. my style. I hope you don’t mind that I don’t share my opening page and my first weeks work with you guys. Its very personal and quite a lot of ranting going on with it. (I think thats why Karyn bought this for me!) But hopefully I’ll find it all very theraputic and maybe just GET ON WITH IT!
Thanks for looking! (As long as its shown up that is)

Second Week

Here is the second week of my journal. I chose to do this one really scrapbooky, using all Basic Grey, Lollipop Shoppe. I branched out this time and used my Sharpies to write. I never do that, but since I am using water color paper that doesn’t bleed, then I thought I’d try it. I’m loving EVERYTHIING that we are ALL doing! Have a great Monday!!!!

whew first journal entry!

finally! i signed up late and then decided to splurge and get an iona handmade joural. i used watercolors for the background and some glitter and some stuff thats like colored gold foil. the image of the women holding cat is part scanned image of a painting of me and my cat, belle that was done by a very talented artist and i love it so wanted to use it here. the poem is by dan walcott and i love the part about feasting on your life. i am not a scrapbooker or a paper artist, i dabble in artsy stuff but just casually and not often enough. i have loved looking at everyones art and i love the online format. thanks shimelle! im crossing my fingers and hoping this posts >..<

whew first journal entry

wk1... mid-week spark

I finished my entry yesterday for the mid-week spark. I exploded some of the image because well, there were a few potty mouth words involved, lol!

The background was done with watercolors. I also used colored pencils, various markers, and some of the Zig Millennium pens.

I am just in awe of everyones creations… it’s hard to keep up with all the entries.

my cover

I posted my first page last night but it got linked to Lynne’s cover
here is my cover
anyone know how to get more instruction on posting?

here we go again...

alright…a new day…let’s give this a go again…

this is my intro page…it’s pretty tame…I just had to get myself back into this slowly…get my feet a bit wet before I really dove in…

and this is my week-one page…

I had a real problem starting this whole art journal…didin’t think it would have been that hard for me, but boy that blank page is intimidating! It took a little coaxing and encouraging from my guy…a little champagne …and some new art supplies, but I got back into the swing of things… Now just try and stop me!

(HUGE THANKS to those who helped out below!)
