Home Page: written down

I don't know why my pages are so large!?

I don’t know why these pages are so large, I’ve tried to resize before I upload and resize but they are still huge – oh well… These pages didn’t photograph very well at all – the first one is the book spark I finally got around to. It’s not actually quite as dull as it shows but it is a very sepia colour. The background is a scan of Hans Christian Andersen’s handwriting overlaid with (my first ever) printed acetate (all book titles, quotes etc) in a circle design. I wrote my book blurb in the middle bit!

The second page is from the “what you never thought you’d have in your house” topic. It’s basically about how we almost didn’t have my daughter in our house because she was so ill when she was born, and the fact that all that while I never thought that we wouldn’t have her with us. It’s quite a personal thing for me to write about and I haven’t gone into it in any really deep way (don’t know if I can do that yet) – but it’s there anyway.

It’s really uncharacteristic of me to write this stuff down nevertheless put it up here for all to see – I don’t really understand what’s got into me – but I guess it must be good to “let it all out” huh!!

Wheel Pages

I used acrylics on the background, then stencilled WILD RIDE over the flying carpet image after painting the background. The writing says “Preferring less traditional methods I took a path that I created As I went. living your life myth is the wildest ride you’ll ever take..Magic Carpet Ride..Choosing not to remain stuck in the past, I broke free like a wild stallion I ran and ran and ran.” I put a napkin then a text page from the book “Valley of Wild Horses”. the black and white image is a packing tape transfer, the stamp is from today’s mail.

Wheel Journal Pages

Wheels to me mean journey and adventure.

My risk Pages

About the risks I’ve taken in learning to drive, falling in love and finding my way into a career.

This first page I did on the day I passed my driving test last week. I’ve yet to experience total freedom yet, though, as I’m still not insured on my fiancee’s car!!

Page two and three

Some other random pages representing what’s going on in my head!

My Week 3 page

I had a brainstorm this morning for this page, so I just had to do it. I haven’t even done my weekend spark page yet! LOL!

Anyway, I kept it very simple. I covered two CD’s, one small and one regular size, with paper. I stamped words on them. The coolest thing about this page is that the wheels actually SPIN since I attached them each with a brad. I thought it would add more interest to this simple page.

Now back to try to finish up my weekend page! LOL!

My Cover!

Finally got round to uploading my cover although I did it over a week ago!

Risk... the Leap!

I started with the risk page, using red as it seemed difficult and risky – traced round ‘Lil Davis monograms for the letters btw. I used watercolour pencils on a gesso base, quite a lot of water and shading added. I realised that it just didn’t ring true for me, so I balanced it with the joy of leaping on the facing page. Taken together, they read…
Risk… ... the leap!

For a couple of days I just let it sit. It didn’t feel finished, or true. Then last night, I started adding magazine cutouts that had caught my eye earlier in the week. This is a new technique for me and one I had been wanting to try.

I had found some quotes on risk that illustrated my view of it. I love this wiggly line journalling I have seen in people’s pages. So I had a go at that, doing the quotes in black and my personal journalling in green.

The journalling reads:
Our lives IMPROVE only when we take CHANCES – and the FIRST and most DIFFICULT risk we can take is to be HONEST with ourselves – Walter Anderson Anytime I feel that spark of fear, that sense that “I’m not the sort of person to do THAT” It is my SIGNAL to act! To WIN without RISK is to TRIUMPH without GLORY – Pierre Coneille WHAT IF? I had never come to the UK? Married Keith? Approached Broomwood? Found out about the B.Ed? AND the day CAME when the RISK to remain tight in a BUD was more PAINFUL than the RISK it took to BLOSSOM – Anais Nin One of my biggest risks was to try and find myself again. For this I risked my marriage, my friends, my family, my comfort zone, my values. But MAN, was it WORTH it? Oh YES!
