second page up close

On this page I did the peeled paint technique and just kept adding layers of stuff, then paint, then sanded some off, then added some more..then i used stamps and some found objects.

My first page close up

I used the tissue paper method for the background like Lisa Vollrath outlines on her page. I decided to try and improvise by putting wild violets and some other plant life in between the layers and then did a bit of the peeling paint technique. I’m not that happy with the outcome because I wanted it to be inside the layers and see through, but it creates the idea of the outdoors that I wanted.

Weekend Spark

Hi everyone! This is my spread for the weekend spark. My favorite place to just ‘be’ is in nature, outside on a warm dreamy day without a care in the world. I guess I’m thinking this way because life seems to be so far from that right at this moment:)

Weekend Spark

This was my attempt at the working with the weekend spark. The ironic thing is that if you can read what I wrote here, I am talking about “home” and where it resides. I almost fell off my chair in laughter when I saw the prompt for this week. I think I will continue to work with this piece throughout the week and tie in more ideas about home.

I tried Shimelle’s suggested technique of immersing a picture in a bit of bleach and water. I was happy with the blue quality it gave to this black and white, and I then started to play around with introducing a bit of color with pigmented ink.

Weekend Spark: BE

I don’t really have a favourite PLACE to be, although there are some wonderful places where I have been truly happy. Very simple page, artisitically speaking (!) but I have written about my favourite state of being, which I feel is more to do with the way I feel inside compared with where I am…hence the ‘There?’ and the choice of heart paper. Thanks for looking!

weekend spark

I’m all about the journalling in general. I’ve been painting in in my regular life a lot more (for other things than this journal) the background and word is acrylics, decopaged fabric and CS heart….pens are the new cool sharpies in many many colors (I bought them all) and there are staples….my favorite product.

Week 3, Version 2

Got around to the weekend spark this morning. This is just cardstock, a sharpie, and stamps by Ma Vinci’s Reliquary. I sorta went for a state of being that I think I remember liking. I crave it idleness often.

Week 3 - Wheels

Week 3 – Circles
I must say I found this quite difficult at first then as the week went on I realised that wheels relate to circles with me. Circles of life immediately came to me in the context of a baby.

The background paper is from leaflets I have from the U.K fertility regulatory body, the white circles can just about be seen on the pink/blue paper. I punched the small circles from remaining scraps and have journalled how I see circles in my life. The silver present relates to a baby being a gift from GOD.

my cover

well, i know its been a while now. and everyone has posted there covers. but i signed up a bit late and, just made my journal. so here is my cover. i actually really like how it turned out, so i wanted to share it.my art journal cover a few of you have asked how i did the cover and the binding of the journal. so i thought i would share. the cover is just made of 12×12 paper that i liked, i just ripped and cut the paper into stripes and glued and sewed the pieces together. and then i wet the paper collage and ironed it dry, repeated that a few times with walnut ink also, and thats how it turned out. the binding, i just took regular 8 1/2×11 cardstock, a cream color, and folded the pieces in half, then i drilled holes in the creases and louped waxy flaxy through the holes to bind it together. to put the cover on i just used PVA to adhere it to the cardstock. i also sewed on a ribbon to use as a bookmark. i cant remember what the closure is called, but it was one of rebecca sowers products. and thats it. i really had no idea what i was doing, it was my first attempt at binding a book. so hopefully it will stay together ok. seems ok so far.
