Home Page: written down

a little behind, week 5

I’ve been traveling and such for the last couple of week, so I’m trying to catch up this weekend. Here is my week five, about my alliance with my husband. I normally would have avoided an angle that lots of others would use, but my marriage is the most important thing to me.

For this entry I used Diane’s Daughters paper as a background, a note Justin scribbled this morning, some distress ink, various rub on letters, a sharpie marker, and some MoBe stamps.

My favourite day

Paper background. Pages from a diary. Inking and charms.

alliAnce of me,myself & i

did another page on alliance. an alliance of myself.

JOURNALING: I am a self-proclaimed moody girl – a woman of many laYers – many faces. I am a conglomerate of many different selves: a wife, a mom, an aRtist, a writer (albiet choppy and often digressive), a daughter, a sister, confident, insecure, friendly and open, introverted and secretive, my own worst critic and my strOngest advocate. I am all of these women who form an alliance of sorts… an alliance of ME… who share a common goal to reach self-realization and my fullest potential….

TECHNIQUES: scanned a photo of myself, started clicking on different Artistic modes in PS. not sure how I got to this point. all i know is it involved neon glow and filmgrain. I printed a series of photos side by side directly on my journal. printed another set separately, then tore it in half and glued to the page. wrote all over the photos with white pen, stamped french script in white and dark brown in various places. stamped faint circles sporadically

cartoon fun

Tried the technique Shimelle suggested with the vellum etc. Did this page of the children – background of ink pads stamped on and added a ‘before’ pic too. Had fun with this but I think the kids look a bit demonic now!!

This is another ‘cartoon’ one of me and very tongue in cheek about how fab I am (ho ho). Same background and stamped all around about me me me!!

Here is my ‘break’ page. All about how I need to organise my time so that I could have a break and what my ideal break would consist of. This was all collage – the clock pic surrounded with lots of little bits of paper stuck on – not that keen on this one – but, again I am not throwing stuff in the bin!

Alliances-Week 5

The alliance that I chose to portray is my marriage with my husband. The Henry Ford quote that Shimelle offered really hit home with me and where I am in our marriage. I prepared the page first with paint. Next, I used my magnetic alphabet stamps to stamp the Henry Ford quote. Then, I created the transparent images in a software program and printed it out on a transparency, adhering it to the quote. I wrote some of the words around the edge that Shimelle had related to the word alliance as well as some of my own that related to marriage.

Break spread

This is curious girl and her friend Tammy the tamer, she’s part animal, part animal trainer.

Break spread

I’m really having fun making these weird little people. It started with the concept of ‘break’ being this stamp of the girl’s face that I have with big glasses. I made the body with another stamp I have and then drew the rest. I’m calling these the attitude girls

My Home Page

Slowly but surely getting caught up! This page turned out a bit too much like a scrapbook page for my taste, but I’ll get there. I took a bunch of pictures of stuff around the house, made a collage in Photoshop, reduced my opacity and printed out the background paper. I also tried the tracing/drawing technique on the bottom left corner of page 2. The rest is from my stash – and the couch is from a magazine (I really liked what it says). You can’t see it in the scan, but I stapled some little ribbon tags here and there on the edges of the paper. Thanks!!

catching up (week four and "be" spark)

hey everybody…we’ve been gone for several weekends in a row and I’ve gotten dreadfully behind…but I’m catching up… I finished my wheels page but kinda hate it and it doesn’t feel like me…It looks good, just not mine, really somehow.
I’ve discovered something about myself on this journey so far (guess that’s kinda the point, huh?) I LOVE the work of folks like Sabrina Ward Harrison and others who have that kinda crazy random lil bits everywhere look…LOVE IT. I’ve always been drawn to that…But it’s not what I do. I could do it, just sit down and copy it and make it a bit my own…but when I just do it my way- I’m all about shapes and order…strange.
and so…I will post my “home” entry, cuz I dig that.

and this is my page for the spark “BE”

thanks for looking!

At last!!

At last I’ve managed to upload my page on the word association topic. Tried a layered ‘peeling paint’ kind of effect over the page and pic and also rubbed in some acrylic paint to the bits I didn’t like! Used some of my responses to the list of words for this page – it was fun!
