Alliances

I really liked the idea of this one, particularly the movie geek route.
I spent a week or two obsessing about which gang was my gang and just narrowly avoided a whole mind-mapping chart of who could fulfill which role in which alliance, with Buffy/LOTR/Star Wars cross referencing.

I struggled with casting myself as Frodo – not identifying with him particularly, but then if this is my art journal, my life, it kinda has to be my quest!

I don’t know whether you’ll be able to read the journalling on this scan – if not, I’ll type it in.

Techniques – acrylic and gel medium, inkjet printout on regular paper, gold acrylic brushed over. People outlines scratched out of wet acrylic/gel medium mixture with round end of paintbrush, highlighted with gold auras.

Week 4 - Home

I drew a house in paint shop pro and added text.

Week 7 - Think

I kept it simple this week, and just journaled about a favorite snapshot of mine.

One thing page

This is called Vision. I really tried to stick with one thing but it sort of grew:) The background is the other side of my Odyssey spread. I just put blobs of acrylic paint and spread them with a credit card. I let this dry and then spread another color over the top with a paper towel. the pictures are done using the bleaching technique. I had a bunch of baby pics that turned out way too dark and didn’t want to throw them away. You can barely see the images but it’s a pic of my littlest girl being held by her daddy. I put the lens over it and used some paper from an eye chart. I mean it in the broadest sense of Vision in terms of the journey of their lives. I guess being a mom really makes me excited to think of what my kids will choose to do in their lives since it’s their turn now. It also makes me kind of sad because even though I know I’m not that old, I feel very aware that I’m in a different phase and that it’s not about my ‘potential’ anymore, it’s just what is. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Week Six Take a BREAK

For me, Take a BREAK just happened on our awesome beach vacation to Door County, Wisconsin AND making S’MORES in the fire pit is one of the ways to take a break and enjoy the simple things in life.
I tried the outline drawing technique but the real photo is what worked best for me and my journal. The printed popsicle stick came with a Club Scrap kit as did the paper. The letters are stickers and stamps.

aj wk4

i did this weeks aj while traveling. Without the comforts of my office/scraproom and my stuff. I like having my stuff. i tried to challenge myself with what was on hand…i don’t love it but now i know i can do things outside of my comfort zone.

fond memories/dessert spark

This page is about my grandmother whom I share my love of sweets with. I found this cool picture of her working in the candy factory back in 1939. I just had to use it. used acrylics for the background & added a pearl mettalic paint over the blue to make it shimmer. then added the cutout stars. TFL!

aj wk 5...i think?

i am playing catch up on my aj…

Just ONE thing

My image is a photo transfer of a picture I took of my daughter holding her stuffed dog. The background was done using credit card technique to smear the paint on the other side of the page and then i just pressed the pages together and liked this swirly look I got. Her image wasn’t that visible after I put the transfer down so i reprinted a copy of the pic and cut the face out and glued it down so it would look very 3D. Thanks for looking!
