Home Page: written down

My first page ever

Unbelievably this is the first time I have ever actively partipated (including uploading to the web) in a group. I’ve viewed and been inspired by many… I’ve always been awed by the breadth of exposure for anything on the web, so have hesitated to partake. My friend, Pat, told me about this site and it looked like it would be fun. So here I am a newbee. Hard to believe that I have over 20 years of software development experience and haven’t participated in an internet group!

Collage of me

This is a hodge podge of my likes and things that mean a lot to me. I’m sure as with any awards speech I have left off some and seemed to place more emphasis on others just because of the days that I did it. I hope to become more comfortable sharing my stuff with others in such a broad venue. I love the creations I see from others and they always give me ideas on how mine could have been better. But it is what it is and I am what I am.

I doodle fish all the time. I have over 500 different fish objects that I have collected over the last 20 years. I went through my files of doodles and included a few on my intro sheet. My name B_Angelfish is Brenda. When I first created it years ago, my brother emailed me back and asked what a bangelfish was—-without the hyphen it takes on a different meaning.

Well, for someone who is nervous about participating and sharing I seem to have gotten wordy and I want to go back and take out a lot of this, but I’m going to leave it for now. I’m very excited about participating in this group.

Me

My first page in my journal represents the two sides of me- the “Work” me and the “Home” me. During the day, I am a Vice President at a large international bank. My position requires that I act in a way that is totally different from the way I act and feel at home. Most people who know only one side of me have no idea what the other side is like!

My Journal cover

Now before you think “What the heck?” I will explain my cover. This cover is the beginning. Every week I will decorate the cover a little based on my entry(s) of that week then at the end my cover will be finished and will reflect what is inside my art journal. I’m not sure what START HERE means it was just part of how I saw it in my head. I’m very excited to be starting this again.

Ok this is me

I so loved oding this first challenge. I had to stop as I felt I was gonna keep going and drown the page lol

The first page

This is my first page “a little glimpse of me”

On the next page i have some hand written personal info about me and where i live. And a message of where to return the journal to if sombody else finds it.

Who

Hi all!

Just finished my page:

While I enjoyed making it, it looks like a huge glut! This completely demonstrates my tendency to fill in every square centimeter of space on the page. One thing I want to develop is my ability to leave blank space, to choose one element and have it be enough.

The funny thing is, that is the same challenge I have in my life! To fill every second with STUFF. Yes, it’s great stuff—but maybe I’d be better able to appreciate it if I picked and chose and FOCUSED a little. Ya think? ;)

Anyway, this truly does represent most of the elements of my life! It’s difficult to see all the different elements here because I need to find a way to resize files from my scanner so I had to take a photo instead. My favorite part is probably the blue sticky note from my daughter that says “Best Mom” in her 5-year-old printing.

Looking forward to seeing how my art evolves over the next weeks…

third time lucky

Let’s try this again.

A little bit of ME!

A little bit of me!

Hello! I’ve seen quite some impressive stuff from all of you. It really inspired me to start with my “page” of me!

I just did a photoshop course and am doing the Illustrator one, so I figured I could use this as well to practice, combined with the pencils, paper, paint, glue and glitter stuff!

I live in Amsterdam and I’ve kept a writing journal on and of since I was about 10. A friend pointed out this challege to me and am looking forward to make a journal that is also nice to look at!

Take care and hope to see a lot more!
