101 in 1001

So Shimelle decided to give us a little fyaji this morning and I had a look at the link and got caught up in their task – 101 things to do in 1001 days. Spent the whole morning (during which I should have been working) coming up with my list, but feel surprisingly fulfilled afterwards. I’m a real list person – and might try to develop something arty tonite in this regard (I feel I haven’t been arty enough with my journal to date). I know it’s not a new year resolution, nor is it the answer to our weekly challenge – but it might help lead to it, because in compiling my list, I was able to look back and say – I don’t have too many things to do in my social category – I think that means I’m happy with my social life and that’s something I want to keep. Anything goes? and it’s only Tuesday…...

Read on if you wish…....My 101 things to do in 1001 days

week one, didnt know quite how to approch it. came up with a mixture of im not sure what. i took some photos out in front of my house a while back and decided to use them here. my studio is right in the front of our house. so you can see right into my studio. did this thinking this is really what its like from out here. when i spend all this time inside of my studio you forget what its like on the outside. just a different perspective i guess.

art & gi joe.

so here is my new art journalling box. i took this class last time. loved it. seriously. so much fun. so i had to do it again. its just a great way to do something for me. something fun. last time i put all my supplies in a cigar box. which was cool. but when i went to australia this summer it broke. so…now its “go joe” loving it. only cost me 3.99 too.

Week One Assignment...

I would never make it as a Design Team member!! I’m not usually a last minute person, but I have a feeling that I will be for this class. I finally began working on the assignment at about 7 last evening. After several false starts (I tried dry brushing paint-nope; rubber stamp blck background-nope) I decided to make a personal challenge out of this. Working with a WHITE piece of paper and not particular other help.

I did mange to get everything down. I was thinking at work today that I should have added color to the picture frame. It was very difficult for me to write that much, not because it was about me, because I’m not a big talker or writer. So to fill the page and stick to the goal was a real accomplishment. Thanks.

OK you can't leave the

write screen and come back to find your message. It deletes. You’d think that after the 3rd try, I’d figure that out!!! Well, I’m going for number 4. Here is my photo for Week One.

My art stuff...

I’m running a bit behind, but will catch up this week. I’m back again for the challenge this time…loved it last time around. My name is Dina, I live in Glendale, AZ. I’ve been art journaling for a couple of years now. You can see some of my pages on my blog, http://dinastamps.typepad.com. Here’s just a small (cough, cough) selection of my art journaling supplies.

I'm Not Worthy

Looking at everyone’s cool entries I almost didn’t post mine. But here it is!

Assignment #1
It isn’t exactly what I had imagined, but it is close. I was going for true authenticity. As an avid scraplifter, I made certain rules for this entry. It had to be mine! No pretty paper, no copying someone else’s design, no premade objects (okay so I cheated on the flowers—but they are so me!). The pastel pink undercoat is really me. In hind sight I wish the journaling were larger, but it is colorful. The photo was fun. It is from a few years ago when my daughter and I traveled through Europe. I reduced the transparency to 30% and printed it on tissue paper. I adhered it to the page using mod podge and used my oil pastels to highlight certain colors. I stamped the heart in the center and colored it with watercolor pencils.

Okay—looking at this entry brings a smile to my face. It is a valiant first effort and this is after all a journey…

On the flip side here is the awesome cover of my journal.
My Journal

If found

If found
I just joined the class today, and hope that I am not too late for the first prompt. I am excited about the class! I found out about the class from Kymmie Smith who I have meet through various places in cyberland.
I found an adorable tag from 7 gypsies in my stash and had to use it. I am not sure if you can read it but it is giving me permission to be creative, daring, unusual, crafty, brillant, selfish, and enjoy myself. This is really important for me, because I don’t give myself permission to be out of the box. Thanks, Kim W

One

ONE
Here’s what’s become of me! Finally decided on what journal to use. Printer didn’t work so, the print out of me became greenish. It turned out totally different than the original, but it was fun creating it!

Looking forward to next weeks challenge!

STAR (an american friend told me this 13 years ago, everynight when I see a star I say this and make a wish!)

Starlight,
Star bright
First star,
I see tonight
I wish I may,
I wish I might,
Have this wish,
I wish tonight!

Goodnight,

Papilio

my first prompt...

Well, here is my first prompt, done under the wire! Acrylics, trusty black sharpie, letter stamps.

I have really been enjoying seeing all the creativity here! You are all an inspiration!
