My Christmas Journal Cover & Day 1 Entry

I am so excited to be starting on this! Here is my album cover and the page from Day 1. I chose to use a Heidi Swapp linen 9×9 album and a lot of Basic Grey goodies on this.

Here is the text from Day 1:
“December 1st, 2006

I have been obsessed with all things Christmas for as long as I can remember. From awaiting Santa Claus as a young child to purchasing my own ornaments and small tree with my babysitting money in junior high to singing in one of the country’s biggest Christmas shows in college to decorating my own home and watching my girls experience the season now – I live and breathe Christmas every December. I love the twinkling lights, the first snowfall, the beautiful carols, the magic of Santa Claus, the traditions we share . . . but most of all I love the anticipation of celebrating my Savior’s birth. I love it that we set aside this day, this season, to commemorate how He came into the world that special night in Bethlehem.

I spend a lot of my time making things for my friends and family – food, cards, gifts, scrapbooks. It is a blessing and one of my greatest joys to be able to make things for others. I spend time taking care of those around me and doing the daily tasks of cooking, cleaning, laundry, bedtime . . . you name it. But this Christmas, I want to make this journal for me. I want to relive my Christmas memories, reflect on what is so special to me about this season and enjoy creating in my studio. This Christmas, this one’s for me.

Lynne”

12.1.2006 Cover & Manifesto

ChristmasJournal2006Cover(Teresa)

I made a cover and did a manifesto page but then settled today on the way I want my journal to be bound so I had to change it a bit.

I am going to print each page as a 5×7 photo. I am doing my journal digitally this year. I will send it to my photo lab as 5×7 proofs to be bound on the top small edge. I am doing this so in future years, I can hang it over a ribbon or over a stand and flip through each day as we celebrate the season in years to come. In five or six years, I think it will be fun to have them lined up on a ribbon or something neat that will hang them side by side and we will flip through them all each year remembering as we make new.

The top tab is to make room for the binding coil and to bring some continuity to the album because who knows what will be on the bottom half… I plan to coordinate the album but want to be free to create for the topic more than the colors of the album if they fight with each other. ;)

I am such an organized, boxy one so I am trying to be open to free and messy if it works :)

Thanks so much for all that are sharing in this experience… what fun we are in for and it is so exciting to see friends from all over the world.

:) Teresa
