weekend spark : BE

Interesting topic this weekend. I went with questioning whether there really is a place I can just be…”does it exist? Can you take me there?”

Layers in there include yellow-mustard paint, more of that Texture Magic dimensional paint from Delta (using a spatula-thing from Delta as well), handwriting, stamping, and some words from a daily devotional booklet that I cut out and adhered/sealed with Golden matte medium. The “be” letters are metal from American Crafts. Liked the lines created by crossing out the first few lines – mimiced the lines of text on the bottom. Random typewriter image was from a stock photo mailer.

Weekend Spark - Favourite Place to *Be*

This was the quickest enty I possibly ever will do. The photo was taken this evening, printed out, then attacked with acrylic paint and sandpaper. It’s a good thing that sharpie pens can write on almost anything.

My favourite place is my garden bench – I spend a lot of time on it, looking at my garden, and savouring the peace and my own thoughts. Sunshine makes me feel so much better about things.

Wheels page

This is very simple. I had fun drawing my first car and that’s what I wrote about. Thanks for looking!

Week 2 Risk

I’ve had so much on my plate lately that I just got to this. It’s been extremely difficult for me to come up with something. I was not a risk taker until after a divorce 13 years ago. Then I started to do and to think things I had not dared to do or to think before. How to document that? I still don’t know if or what I’ll write here. Just to do this page and try the techniques is way out of my groove.

Did the paper tearing technique out of Collage Discovery Workshop, played with my acrylic paints, stamps. The colors are out of my comfort zone. But I’m pleased with it at this point.

week 3 - wheels?!? What wheels?

So my wheels entry is all about me walking. Figures. The method in the madness is I miss the walk to work…....time constraints mean I have to take my car to drop off the wee Lamb and make it to work on time.

Bits & bobs out of Crocus plant catalogue and Fat Face groovy clothing (it’s really hard to get an image of someone walking! Not posing or doing something “interesting”!!). Acrylic & ink…....usual stuff. Ooh, I love Shimelle’s suggestion about the painted photo, had lots of fun with the trees!!

Learn to Unlearn

Another one from me, I’m a busy one! This is more on my new learning process, learning to do things in ways I’ve never done before. Abandoning all of my preconceived notions of what my book should be… Plain and simple, just playing.

An Age of Reason

finally a post. my attempt to visually validate challenges I’ve overcome. Bravery that I never recognized at the time because I just did things without thinking about them too much. Posting something on the web for people to see is my plunge back into being “fearless”. Cheers

Wheel spread

I really tried to make this simple, but it didn’t turn out that way. Loosely it’s about time. I used found objects from the week and made it a chronicle of the things that happened. The name tag was from my son’s school field day, I used part of my ‘to do’ list, some items my husband brought home from work for me to use for art. I copied a pic of the x-ray taken of my son’s arm which he broke this week. It’s a bit all over the place but am going to continue my attempt to create without expectation of it turning out a certain way—good or bad; right or wrong.
