My Style

My Style
Yes, you did already see another “style” challenge. I lost track and didn’t realize that I already did one when creating this one. I had the journalling written down in a notebook so it’s the same. MM acrylic paint, Milky Way Zig Markers. Journalling reads: My style is constantly changing. Being an artist, I like many things, I don’t have a fav color, I like them all. I don’t have a fav movie or song. I like too many to single out just one. My home is the same. As you walk in you see my grandmas traditional curio cabinet w/blue and red vases, old german music boxes, artsy cows, dolphins, turtles, southwestern skulls and bell peppers. My living rm/kitchen is traditional w/a modern edge. Dining rm is french country. My bathrm is tropical/african mix. My bedrm is asian-zen. Yes, my sock and underwear drawers are color organized. My closets are well thought out-sorted by colors, textures & seasons. My handbags are hung and my shoes are arranged.

Style
MM acrylic paints, silver and black Sharpies, vellum, that’s about it.

Break

Break
Torn mulberry paper, MM acrylic paints, rose and heart vellum from Paper Pizzazz(?). Quote: Sometimes you put up walls not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them.”-anon. This is how I feel about breakups.

Attitude Girls Page Two

I used rubber stamps and added watered down acrylics. Page says “Pies in the sky are not unattainable.” The quotes from the various gurus etc. are “Become one with the pie” “Go the way of the pie” “Follow your calling attitude girl” “Ancient Pie Warrior” “She consulted the made genius Pie = !#$!#%^ ” “Respect the pie and it will respect you” “Sacred Pie” Thanks for looking!

Attitude Girls Spread page one

Says “As much as she knew it would disappoint all who had such high hopes for her, she decided to pursue her dream of making pies. She consulted the pie gurus, a mad genius, and the Buddha of pie. blackberry, cherry, apple, peach. She would make these pies a reality and in the end she would be OKAY.”

Week 4: Home

Finally jumping in with a long overdue Week 4. I chose to focus on my home state of Texas.

I might have gone a bit overboard with techniques on this—but I was in the mood to play and experiment! For the background, I wrote some of the lyrics of Tanya Tucker’s “Texas When I Die” with a bleach pen on denim. I attempted a transfer with inkjet transparency and gel medium to get my old pic onto the canvas-like material, but wasn’t too successful. I ran out of the kind of transparency that worked well. So I kinda cheated and used inkjet iron on transfer paper instead.

One

I’m WAY behind in the challenge. First my computer crashed and then we got hit by Hurricane Dennis. This entry in my journal is in response to my computer problems.

Bascially, my computer is my life, and I was feeling pretty lost without it.

The page is mainly acrylics in blues, with blue cardstock and blue ink. The One at the bottom right are cardstock monogram stickers.

The haiku reads:

my sick little Dell
the Geek Squad to the rescue
come back to me soon

Thanks for looking!

week 10

Although I did sew some fabric and add ribbons (leftovers from school) I focused on my inspiration…the four coolest effers I’ve met thus far on this amazing journey.

week 9

went w/ the “wait and see” prompt. Seemed appropriate w/ what’s going on in my life right now.

Foam stamped the word wait to create the background, then added picture, dictionary cut-out, journaling and the “and see” bit.

Week Ten Wait and see

This Henry Van Dyke quote has always been a favorite and it is what came to mind when I read Shimelle’s prompt about Wait and See. This is dh and I three years ago July 20th at our son’s wedding.
